Professor Kathy Willis appointed to the House of Lords

Professor Kathy Willis has been appointed to the House of Lords as a new non-

party-political peer. Professor Willis’s nomination was recommended by the independent House of Lords Appointments Commission, with the move approved by the Prime Minister and the Queen. Professor Willis joins the crossbenches, comprising independent peers who provide deep, wide-ranging expertise to the House.


Professor Willis was nominated for being internationally recognised as an expert on nature and the relationship between biodiversity, climate change, and wellbeing. Professor Willis is also Principal of St Edmund Hall (the oldest college in Oxford) and Professor of Biodiversity in the Department of Biology, University of Oxford.
